A Woodland Setting: Rebecca & Andy’s Engagement Photos Session
I had a fantastic day today combining two of my passions, travel and photography. Rebecca and Andy had chosen me to photograph their wedding at the amazing Middleton Lodge in North Yorkshire and today was a great way to meet up with them before the day to talk about their wedding plans and to capture some engagement photos for them as part of their engagement shoot.
As a wedding and engagement photographer with many years experience I know the value that an engagement session can bring to my clients. It helps them to relax in theirs and my company, get to know my approach and gives them the confidence to be themselves in order to create beautiful natural engagement photos they will love.
The weather was overcast and drizzling but nothing unusual for this time of the year, particularly being in the UK. The weather is often something couples worry about on their wedding day but in terms of capturing great images this is easily done come rain or shine, just look for the great light and that’s where the magic happens.
It was my first time to Wilmslow in Manchester and after chatting about their plans we headed to a local wooded area next to a railway line and an alleyway to create some fab images. It just goes to show that no matter where you are, with great light, careful attention to detail and some creative thought a great variety of images can be captured.
Before the session was wrapped up I did something a little off the wall and made Becky float in mid-air! now that would make for a really unique wedding image, David Blane and Copperfield would be so jealous!
I can’t wait to see what we can create together come the wedding day, so excited to produce something very special for them both!
Engagement photos can be a great way to compliment your wedding day images and I know many couples who use one of their framed engagement photographs to allow their wedding guests to sign the frame as a memento of their day, a great idea! It also remains a great way to bring along the kids and family dog to get them involved without having to worry about getting that wedding dress or suit dirty. Nothing but relaxed informal images that you can showcase around the house alongside those beautiful wedding images, what’s not to like!
I travel all over the UK to help couples capture their wedding day in a natural and authentic way that produces images that have depth and feeling. My approach has always been one that enables me to craft images that leave the viewer with a feeling, not just pretty pictures. Using an engagement session to help couples relax has proven a great way to do that which is why I offer engagement sessions as an option to all my wedding packages.
